What is humanity?
Can you ever forget it?
What is humanity?
Can you ever lose it?
Some now days don't think
They let rage gather more
Some now days don't feel
They let hatred fuel them
There may be one Moon
Yet they want to move apart
There may be one Earth
Yet they think others inferior
Lives are lost just for hate
They don't even think twice
Lives are lost just for foolishness
They don't even feel remorse
There may be one Heaven
Though they never love
There may be one Hell
Though they never change
Some now days are so cruel
They hurt others and laugh
Some now days are so heartless
They hurt others and forget
What is humanity?
Can you ever forget it?
What is humanity?
Can you ever lose it?
I want people to know about my ancestors, I want them to know they were real human beings. Often people will look at the Natives, say that it was a sad thing for them to have suffered and that it would have happened no matter what. They say it wasn't as bad, try to hide the true story so others won't know. When they do these things it shows they don't understand... they don't think with their own hearts. How could people not know that the Indians who lived and fought during that chaos were just like them, were not just names placed on a piece of paper. Satanta, Lone Wolf and Satank all struggled to hold their territory, they saw so much hell just trying to be free men. The Kiowa people as well endured all of this, hoping to not lose their nation and country. For many years the madness of war dragged on... claiming so many of their lives. The white man never held back, he never tried to be merciful like a human being should. The white man did everything he could to hurt the Indians, everything he could to put them through a holocaust that nobody seems to remember today. In the end those Indians lost their country, lost everything that they cherished... it was all taken in a hail of bullets. I know the chiefs felt deep sorrow in their hearts, felt heartbreak and grief when it ended. The Kiowa people felt this as well, they all lost so much, more than any man should lose. They fought so long... only to be beaten by others who never thought about life, who never thought about how much blood they shed. Yes... those Natives were real people, they felt love and hate, joy and sorrow. Each was just like one of us today, they had hearts... they had lives that were taken away. For anyone to just say it would have happened anyway, that it wasn't as bad as it really was; to try to hide it, is completely heartless. Their lives were important too, their stories... shouldn't be forgotten like people seem to forget today. My own heart breaks... to see history pushed aside and hidden, to see my ancestors and their stories left with such a sad ending. People now days need to understand it all, so that maybe they won't cause these things to repeat... so that they will learn to treasure their humanity like they should.

I'll tell you if you want to know...
I didn't even know about them until about a week ago because one of my friends told me. They don't show the dead children on US television.
